KARACHI: The irregularities being witnessed in the Sindh Education Department came under scathing attack at the provincial assembly session on Friday. While Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that he was also against the illegal appointments of officials in education department, but regretted that things were being done covertly at the top bureaucratic level. The session began late by two to three hours with Speaker Nisar Ali Khuhro in the chair. The speaker was annoyed at the members of provincial assembly for arriving late in the session. He said: "According to the rule of business, the session ends at 12:00 noon on Friday, shall I adjourn it now? On this Law Minister Ayaz Soomro apologized and assured the speaker to abide by the time schedule next time. During the question-answer session, the lawmakers strictly criticized the provincial minister Pir Mahar-ul-Haq and education department for serious irregularities. Jam Tamachi urged the minister to remove the officers hired against the policy of good governance. Responding on this, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq proposed the formation of a joint committee to investigate the charges. Haq said that he was an unpopular minister because of his opposition in the illegal appointment of officers. |
